Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, a long established, well respected non-profit located in Pittsburgh, PA has an opening for a Vice President, Conservation Programs.  This executive level position directs and coordinates Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s natural resource conservation strategies, policies, goals and activities in support of WPC’s mission, which includes conservation science and planning, natural heritage, freshwater conservation, and the Laurel Highlands project.  The VP, Conservation Programs also collaborates and coordinates closely with WPC’s Land Conservation and Stewardship program and provides planning input and assistance for land acquisition and protection activities.

The successful candidate will philosophically support all facets of WPC’s mission, scope of work and strategies.  He/she must demonstrate a strong conservation ethic and broad-based knowledge and experience in natural resource protection.  WPC seeks a proven leader with strong managerial and leadership skills, excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.  Prior experience in the preparation and monitoring of division budgets is required.  Proven ability to fundraise from the public and private sector is preferred.  The position requires an advanced degree and minimum of 10 year’s work experience in natural resource management, or comparable experience.  Prior senior management level experience with a conservation organization or agency or comparable experience is required.   This position reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer and is based at 800 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA.
