In 1999, Small Seeds Development Inc. (SSDI), a community based organization was formed to create and operate programs to address community deterioration, homelessness, juvenile delinquency, and to provide relief and care to children. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title:  Program Director/Supervisor    
Status:  Full-time - 40 hours per week - Exempt
Program:  Family Group Decision Making  
Direct Report:  Executive Director

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Director/Supervisor plans, directs, organizes, develops, supervises, trains and coordinates.  Experience in working with children and families in the areas of providing family preservation and in home services, clinical assessments and interventions.  

Program Model:  Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) is utilized to empower families to make decisions and privately create a plan for the care and protection of their children.  FGDM may be provided at any time during the child welfare process from emergency response through permanency.    

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide direction in the efficient management and oversight of program including staff supervision, contract services, program compliance and personnel evaluation services
  • Assist Executive Director with program budget preparation
  • Identify and make recommendations to Executive Director on major problems areas
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and team meetings
  • Acts as administrator in the absence of the Executive Director
  • Reviews and monitor files on a daily basis
  • Responsible for the orientation of new staff and scheduling of work assignments
  • Produce timely reports for Allegheny County DHS Children, Youth and Families
  • Oversee and ensure the effective coordination of logistics for program
  • Work closely with representatives of DHS CYF and provide required documents
  • Assist in the development, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of family services
  • Participate in required annual training to include case assessment, evaluation, team building, child development, stress management, chemical dependency and other training to assist with staff development
  • Engage others creatively in the on-going development of program
  • Evalaute, interpret and apply all policies and procedures relating to program
  • Build understanding and awareness and help develop proactive resolutions to possible conflicts as necessary

Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field. Three (3) years experience in social or human service work with (2) years supervisory experience; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Human Services. Six (6) years experience in social work with two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Work Requirements:

  • Keen understanding and ability to build strong relationships
  • Keep abreast of current research and activity in the field    
  • Ability to be creative and innovative thinker and problem solver
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, PP and database spreadsheet skills    
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals
  • Access to car at all times
  • 24 hours availability  
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Proof of car insurance
  • Act 33 & 34 clearances
