POSITION SUMMARY        
Perform bookkeeping functions for the company’s internal accounting needs; record transactions within established systems and procedures.

  • The mission of the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry (CUBM) is to glorify God by educating urban students in southwestern Pennsylvania for effective service in their local communities.  CUBM provides accredited Bible-based degree programs granted by Geneva College and other learning experiences in a Christian community where deep relationships with others of diverse backgrounds are encouraged, equipping students to further the kingdom of Christ and transform society for the glory of God.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record all deposits to the accounting system on a timely basis.
  • Perform weekly check processing as needed, including maintenance of accounts payable documentation.
  • Make bank deposits on a timely basis.
  • Prepare reports and analysis as requested.
  • Summarize bi-monthly payroll data for submission to outside payroll processing company.
  • Prepare payroll general ledger entries on a timely basis.
  • Maintain petty cash fund and documentation of petty cash disbursements.
  • Contribute ideas and effort toward improved company operating procedures.
  • Assist in the development of The Marriage Works annual budget and ongoing expenditure projections.
  • Prepare monthly Marriage Works expenditures summary for submission of grant reimbursement requests.
  • Track and report missions contributions by participant.
  • Maintain personnel files with current information.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of business office filing systems.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and company standards
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with a network of colleagues.
  • Maintain an accurate daily time summary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.
  • Participate in company meetings as requested.
  • Provide information as requested for outside accountant’s preparation of Form 990.

SUGGESTED PREREQUISITES

  • Basic elements of English language usage, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • An associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to a computerized accounting system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports.  Quickbooks experience desired.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Ability to operate calculator, computer, and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, in English.
  • Works with confidential firm and personnel matters, requires ability to keep matters confidential.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal office environment, with occasional evening and weekend work.  Additional hours may be required.

Requires:

  • Prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. 
  • Eye-hand coordination for use of calculator, computer keyboard, printer, copier, and other office equipment. 
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate reports. 
  • Automobile travel.
