Dental Project Director, Universal Health Care Action Network of Ohio - Columbus, OH

UHCAN Ohio (Universal Health Care Action Network of Ohio) is a statewide, nonprofit organization working for high quality, affordable health care for all Ohioans by building strong consumer advocacy. The overall work of the project director is to develop, manage, expand and coordinate a coalition and lead a campaign for expanded dental access. Includes building the capacities of the coalition and its members, developing and implementing the work plan, working closely with the Executive Director of UHCAN Ohio and the national project director.
Qualifications:
1. 5 years’ experiencing managing advocacy coalitions or comparable experience, preferably in Ohio.
2. Experience in organizing at the community level and working with communities of color and or faith based organizations.
3. Strong analytical and political skills, including a thorough understanding of the political and legislative processes related to Ohio health policy and the state budget process.
4. Knowledge and understanding of health policy, health care issues, and/or the healthcare delivery system;
5. Excellent communications skills including verbal and written skills, particularly with respect to communicating in clear and simple concepts directed to the general public and a wide variety of audiences. Verbal communications skills should include the ability to work with a wide variety of organizations and to write policy documents and newsletters or flyers.
6. Proficient in the use of word processing, Internet and e-mail communications.
7. The individual must have access to reliable automotive transportation in order to make occasional trips to cities across Ohio and be able to travel with occasional overnight travel.
8. A post-college education is preferred, but consideration will be given to comparable work experience.
Salary: Salary range:$48-52K, depending on experience. Health coverage is provided, with some contribution by the employee.
