Laughlin Children’s Center is looking to hire a full-time Psychology Department Director. The person holding the position will be responsible for three broad areas: 1. Representing the department and agency in the community, 2. Overseeing the department staff, and 3. Providing therapeutic services to children and families.
The successful individual will be an effective public speaker, adept at motivating and supervising staff, and experienced in dealing with children and families with a broad spectrum of mental health needs. The individual must hold a license as a Psychologist and be credentialed for insurance reimbursement by third party payers; PA certification as a school psychologist is preferred. The successful Director will oversee the growth of the department through innovative programming and greater engagement with the community, serving as a local expert and source of information, as well as a referral resource for Laughlin Center and other agencies, when appropriate. Job Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Community Outreach
- Develop relationships in the community to foster good mental health practices and educate the local population about Laughlin Center services.
- Maintain consistent communication with key agencies and individuals in order to stay current on the needs of the community and emerging strategies, so as to position Laughlin Center as a local innovator.
- Investigate and/or develop new programming opportunities to meet the needs of the community and capitalize on the skill sets of the department’s clinicians.
Departmental Supervision
- Establish regularly-scheduled clinical meetings with department staff and other Laughlin Center clinicians as needed.
- Develop and implement procedures to streamline the intake process, a plan for record review and retention, and a release-of-information policy.
- Oversee scheduling and coordinate evaluation and therapy schedules, matching clients to therapists based on needs and skill sets.
- Work closely with Insurance Coordinator to maximize insurance reimbursements, keep current on provider policies and guidelines, and develop relationships with key contacts.
Provision of Direct Service
- Provide psychotherapy to children and families referred to the Center, and maintain confidential therapy records.
- Complete documentation required for third party reimbursement of services.
- Obtain necessary continuing education in order to maintain credentials and other professional requirements.
- Administer, score, and interpret results of appropriate tests and other evaluative techniques to children and adolescents; discuss assessment results with parents and other professionals.
